A show introduction plays. The title "The Report" comes onto the screen quickly, glitzy. Once finished, the screen fades to a woman at a desk with a tablet in front of her. She looks into the screen pleasantly, smiling.
Good evening. I'm Lisa Hanna, and this is 'The Report. Tonight, we continue our coverage of Franklin Walker's death.
Outside a tall building with the Walker Company logo, a vigil is held by some as well as a makeshift memorial of flowers and candles as some stand looking as though in silent prayer with heads held low. While others are just there to take in the moment.
Franklin Walker was the second generation Walker to lead the family. His father Calvin, established what is known today as The Walker Company from a small firm working on computer systems that slowly expanded into a conglomerate known for its high quality and reasonably priced products.
The scene cuts to an older gentleman who looks to be in his eighties, as a younger man whose face is obscured by a window cling carts him towards a place. "When Calvin passed away, it fell to Franklin to take charge. During the Last War, Walker expanded, as did other companies, into other goods needed for resources. However, they also expanded into services at this point as well as establishing a small research division to help the war effort. When the effects of the red rain finally fell, Walker began to step up into the state we currently know it as today.
A man's face is obscured by lens flare, and he is standing next to a younger-looking Emmett Bettis, who is shown with an arm around his shoulder and hands shaking as they smile.
"When the world was on the brink, Walker and his then newly minted Vice President Emmett Bettis stood against the move to CNY. Instead of opting to transform the company into a multi-versed company. Done by doing deals with various small companies and allowing them a strong amount of independence while also relying on a big company distribution during a chaotic time to work together through these efforts, along with the Chain forces slowly making progress in reclaiming portions of the country. Today, The Walker Company stands amongst the largest companies in the world, many view them as on the same level as another company, ReignOrg."
The younger Emmett is shown on screen in front of reporters talking
"What we need to do right now; is focus on rebuilding The Chain, if we are not unified, then other companies will simply wither and die on a vein just like the rest of us. It's the duty of a company just as much as a citizen for us to help rebuild."
"Today Walker's most important asset is its development of nanotechnology. By aligning with other companies and using resources from and after the war. Walker safely developed the basics of nanotechnology. Tamsin Jones, then recently named head of Walker Research and Development has only accelerated its progress on applying the technology to daily use." The narration continued
Thomas is shown sitting at a desk, Tam standing next to him trying her best to not feel embarrassed or even intimidated. As Thomas sits back relaxed and collected.
"A lot of the future we have is the result of Dr. Jones's work, thanks to her advances in programming and development we could be seeing more things using nanomachines in a practical but safe way. Isn't that right?" He said and turned to her.
Her face blushed brightly and her eyes looked around for a moment, "YES!" she said, screen beside her changed. "Many people from Chain companies related to or aided by b
"STEPHEN!" A reporter shouted to him as he got to the door. "Do you have any words for Thomas or the world to hear?"
Stephen began to walk up, and the silver-haired woman put a hand on his shoulder and shook her head. He waved the reporter away and went into the building.
Lisa returned to the screen, "The world wonders what is next for The Walker Company, after the passing of Franklin, Vice President Bettis started with confirmation that his only child Thomas would succeed him as leader of the company, marking the third generation Walker to take charge. Though the world does now look on with wonder, and perhaps a bit of concern of what the future holds with Thomas Walker in charge, after the break more with our panel about Thomas and where he fits into the world stage now...."
